Snow on Thumb Butte
Oh yeah! It was snowing while we were in Prescott to visit the girls for Emily's birthday. We ate at Red Robin and this is the view of Thumb Butte from the parking lot.
Emily is 6 years old!
Emily called this morning to see if we were going to come up for her birthday. Her birthday is actually tomorrow. I had thought about it but sure got going on my "to do" list and thought perhaps I would just send a card. Well, how can you refuse such a precious little thing like her! So Carl and I changed our plans and drove up to Prescott to meet Tracy and the girls. The girls did not know we were coming - I had only confirmed it with Tracy and we met them at Walmart where they were shopping with their Christmas gift cards. When they came out to the car, we were waiting next to it. You should have heard the screams of joy! What a thrill for us too! We went to Red Robin for lunch and enjoyed being with Tracy and the girls. We just love those grandchildren!
Doug's Present to Himself!
Doug was so excited today to receive his Christmas present to himself! He's been waiting for the Fed EX guy all week. It sure is a beauty! Hope we can all stand the noise!

Miracle of Christmas at the Zoo!
We attended a nice Christmas pageant at a zoo down the street from Sandra's. They used the real zoo animals and told the story of Jesus' birth. It was 20 degrees outside but fortunately the program was only about 20 minutes long. It was a nice way to prepare for Christmas - the Reason for the Season!
Debra's Birthday Surprise!
Carl surprised me for my birthday by joining me on my trip to Richmond, VA for my neice Natalie's wedding! He's the greatest guy ever!
He told me he couldn't go and so it was going to be my birthday present to go and be with my family for the event. I was feeling sad that he wasn't able to go but he gave me my boarding pass before we left the house to check and make sure everything was correct and there was his pass as well! Yippee! I was so excited and surprised! It sure made my Birthday special and my flying nerves gave way to exhilaration that he was going to join me! We had a lovely trip together. He even arranged a nice hotel room so we could enjoy some honeymoon time! Woohoo!

Rebecca is 9!
Carl and I took a trip up to Ash Fork today to celebrate Rebecca's 9th Birthday! Her birhday was on Wednesday but we couldn't get away that day. The girls were excited to see us since Tracy had not told them we were coming. Rebecca is quite the girl - camo one minute and doing fingernails the next. An all american girl! That's one of Rebecca's friends getting her nails done. Happy Birthday Big Girl!

Thanksgiving at our house!
This is what I bet most of the women I know were doing after the feast was prepared! Carl set up our hammock outside and I took a few breaks during the day to rest my poor aching back! It was so thoughtful of him! I love cooking for Thanksgiving but it sure gets me in the back and shoulders standing all day.

Happy Turkey Day!
This is a picture of my classroom. I took some of Carl's old ties and made a cool wall decoration for my classroom. Pretty cool! Hope your holidays are wonderful and light!

The buck stopped here!
Here is a picture of a very, very happy Doug with his first Coue's Deer Buck! I could hear him yelling and see him jumping around in the woods when he got this guy! This just clinches the addiction to the outdoors for he and Carl. They just can't get enough! WooHoo! Congratulations Doug!

A buck! He got a Buck!
I just received a text from Carl and Doug on their hunting trip. Doug got his first Buck! WooHoo! He is so excited! I guess this means we will have to get a freezer! I can just see him jumping up and down and yelling for all it's worth! Pictures to come as soon as they get back!

Weekend Trip to Safford!
Carl and I took the weekend and went down to Safford to do some scouting around for his upcoming coues dear hunt. We haven't been down there in a long time. It was hot though! Record highs for this time of year. We stayed in the Springhill Suites (nice perk of having a son working for Marriott). Saturday we drove around looking for the designated hunting area and then did some hiking. It was wilderness hiking - no trails.. . I mean we were blazing the trail. I have the scratches to prove it! I twisted my knee a little on the last trek and Carl had to finish to the top without me. We found this interesting old building in the middle of nowhere and decided that was about the kind of resort living we would be doing some day! Ha!
Above is the Gila Valley Temple that we passed on the way into town. Getting pretty close to completion. Beautiful!
