This is the place!

As we were coming down from our hike on Thunderbird Mountain, we could see the sight for our new Phoenix Temple! Right next to the Stake Center here on Pinnacle Peak Road only a short 15 minutes from our house. We are so excited! It is still a bit of slow process because the people in the neighborhood don't want it there for several reasons. The church is working hard to work with the people and have made some changes in the design of the Temple to please them. We look forward to having the Temple so close, I can just imagine being able to come over several times a week. It will be a couple of years yet though.

Oh what a Beautiful Day!

Carl and I took a hike Saturday up Thunderbird Mountain because it was so beautiful outside. I mean it was in the mid 70s and a glorious day. I am sorry for those of you who are still freezing but know that we just love the great outdoors on a warm and sunny day!

Water in the creek!

This is the creek by our house! It usually is dry but was almost full this week. This picture was taken 3 days after the last rain! We expect more rain this week so we will see how it grows.

Enough Rain!

It has been super wet around here this week.  Yes, I said week!  We have had record rainfall for Phoenix this week.  I mean like 3 and 4 inches in one day! We had rain for 4 days straight!  That means our year's worth of rain has practically all fallen this week!  I know we need the moisture around here but really - all in one week!  Pictures to come.

I have had a rotten week at school as well.  The little darlings are not used to staying inside all day and their already rambunctious behavior was out of control this week!  Even though it was a short week because of the MLK Holiday on Monday, it seemed like the longest week ever!  I kept taking a deep breathe and mumbling to myself all week just to get through each day.  Needless to say, I was grateful for Friday to arrive.  It is predicted that we will have a few more days of rain next week.  I hope I can get through it! Pray for me!

He's a Finisher! Woohoo!

Doug ran in the PFChang 1/2 Marathon today! Kim and I were his cheering crew! I can't tell you how exciting it was for me to watch for him to come in! I had tears thinking about where he has come from in the last year! He is in such good shape and he was feeling good crossing the finish line! He wants to run a marathon now! Go Doug Go! We are so proud of your accomplishment!

Carl's ? Birthday!

Erin, Liam, Doug and Grandma were here to celebrate Carl's (28th - Ha!) Birthday. Erin made him this cookie tray - Carolina basketball player squashing the Duke and NC State players! We celebrated with Cheesecake with blackberries and lots of Cool Whip - Carl's favorite.

Happy New Year!

Carl and I were invited to Kent and Jeanne's for New Year's Eve. They had invited several couples, including Jenan and her date, Jeremiah. We had a lovely dinner of Prime Rib and Scallops with great trimmings. We played a couple of games and danced as well. We rang in the new year with a toast of Sparkling Apple Cider and Pazookie It was very nice! We had a wonderful time ringing in 2010!
