Saturday Hike!

I had a three day weekend so Carl and I took a trip up north. We visited Tracy's family on Friday and then stayed at the Marriott Courtyard in Flagstaff. (It is sure is nice to have a son who works for Marriott!) Saturday we drove to Sedona and hiked straight up - and I mean straight up! - Sterling Pass. It was a perfect day for a hike, cool but sunny. I was definitely not sure I could make it up because the rock stairs in parts where rather tricky. But I did get to this lovely peak and witnessed a wonderful view. I'll add more pics. Carl is preparing to hike the Grand Canyon again in May but I am definitely not ready for it yet. Maybe next year.

Monster Lizard!

This afternoon I looked out the kitchen window and saw this monster lizard on the fence! When I opened the door and went out for a closer look I saw that there were two lizards chasing each other around the fence. I don't know what kind it is but they were sure big. I guess spring is really in the air in Arizona! It was 92 degrees today! A little early for that warm weather but this time of year it is hard to say if it will stay around and lead us into a sweltering summer or just give a taste of what's ahead.

Ethan's 3rd Birthday at the Train Park

Last Saturday we celebrated Ethan's 3rd Birthday together at the Railroad Park in Scottsdale. I don't remember going there before but it sure was fun. There was a train that ran every few minutes through the park. Ethan is a Thomas the Tank Engine big fan so he chased the train everytime it came by our picnic table. It was so fun to share his birthday with him. Love you Ethan!

Fort Macon Beach in Carolina!

We had to take the kids and myself to the beach since we were in Carolina. You know how I love the Beach!! It is my favorite place in all the world! It was Ethan's first time at the beach and he just loved it! We couldn't keep him from running into the water and up and down the shore. You can see that we couldn't even get him to look at the camera! I sure enjoyed taking the kids there even though it was only for a couple of hours. We also made our trip to Captain Bill's for some of the east coast seafood - yum! It's not really all about the food but it sure does make the trip just as memorable.

Grandma's 100th Birthday Celebration!

I went back to NC for my Grandmother Hargett's 100th Birthday Celebration. We had a wonderful family reunion and spent about 2 hours just taking family group pictures. This is the best one of our crew. I was glad that Erin, Tony and Liam as well as Kim, Gavin and Ethan were able to come from my family. Miranda, Susan's youngest daughter, was there with her 1 week old baby girl so we got to go first in the group pictures since she didn't plan to stay long with the big crowds. It was wonderful to see family and friends that I haven't seen in 30 or 40 years. Oh, that sounds old! We all enjoyed the weekend together. The food was terrific - good ole Carolina Barbeque was the main course! Yum!
