We learned a few months ago that a friend that Carl had taught her family in the Philippines was actually living in Alpine, Utah, near a friend of ours. We talked and arranged to meet for dinner while we were passing through on our way to Idaho. We had a wonderful time renewing our acquaintance and remembering years past. When Carl and I were first married, Ruthie came to visit us in Chapel Hill a few times. She had been attending BYU Hawaii and her roommate was from Carolina. She called us when she came for a visit and we spent several weekends with her teaching us about the Philippines. Ruthie married a return missionary who served in the Cebu Mission right after Carl left the Philippines. We had lost track of her for many years so it was awesome to share this time and we look forward to visiting each other more often.
