We had Stake Conference this weekend. The Saturday night meeting was wonderful. I sang in the choir. It was a lovely hymn "I Need Thee Every Hour". We got lots of compliments on it. I enjoy singing in the choir even though I don't always make every practice. Sister Prine does an awesome job directing. It is amazing how close you can feel the spirit of the Lord when you sing the hymns. I've had many spiritual experiences while singing. Even though I feel like my voice is not what it used to be, I still keep trying to participate.
Today one of he Counselors in the Stake Presidency made a suggestion that I thought was a neat idea and I thought I would share it. He spoke about journaling reasons for rejoicing in the gospel. It started me thinking about my reasons to rejoice in the gospel. His first reason was his family - I totally agree! I love my family and feel the most joy when I think of them and all they mean to me. That would include my husband, Carl, first and foremost! He is the light of my life and I love him so much! I rejoice in the Savior and all that He has done for me - His atoning sacrifice and resurrection that makes it possible for me to repent of my sins and imperfections and be redeemed to live eternally! I rejoice in extended family and friends who support me in my trials and tribulations and share in my joys as well. I rejoice in the powers of the priesthood that Carl holds in our home to bless each of us when we need it. These are just a few of the things I rejoice in. Can you think of things to rejoice in the gospel in your life? Try writing them down.
Thanks for an inspirational post Aunt Debra! How blessed we truly are!
ReplyDeleteWe sang two of my favorite hymns in Relief Society yesterday--"I Believe in Christ" and "Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel". It made my heart sing even though my voice failed. Music is my way of rejoicing!
